2.244

即是利根菩薩，聞佛上來所說法華即便得解，不更重說也。而三請後更廣說者，為鈍根聲聞說耳。又此中通歎諸佛有知機之德，有利根之人已解佛悟，不須復說。

These are namely bodhisattvas of sharp faculties, who upon hearing the Lotus Dharma preached above by the Buddha immediately attain understanding, so that he does not speak it again. His further extensive preaching after three entreaties was merely for the sake of śrāvakas of dull faculties. Furthermore, this generally praises the Buddhas' virtue of knowing the capacities [of beings]: since people of sharp faculties have already comprehended the Buddha's awakening, there is no need to speak further.
