言四功德者，一種種方便者，約住功德。種種知見者，第二教化功德。種種念觀者，謂畢竟成就功德。種種言辭下，第四說功德。
As for the four merits: "various skillful means" refers to the merit of abiding; "various kinds of knowledge and vision" is the second, the merit of converting and instructing; "various kinds of mindful contemplation" refers to the merit of ultimate accomplishment; from "various modes of speech" below is the fourth, the merit of expounding.
