「自此已下依三種義示現者」。自上來釋〈方便品〉妙法功德、法師功德二章義竟。今第三釋大眾三義，即是釋三請中初請經文。就文為二：初標三義、第二別釋三義。初又三：第一總標三義。

On 'from this point downward, it is manifested in reliance on three meanings': from the beginning up to this point, the explanation of the two section meanings in the Skillful Means Chapter—the merits of the sublime Dharma and the merits of the Dharma master—has been concluded. Now, third, it explains the three meanings of the great assembly, which explains the sūtra text of the first entreaty among the three entreaties. In the text there are two parts: first, marking the three meanings; second, specifically explaining the three meanings. The first also has three: first, generally marking the three meanings.
