It also says: regarding the 'two kinds of persons', there are four kinds of śrāvakas: first, the resolute; second, those who retrogress from the bodhimind; third, transformationally created ones; fourth, those of overweening pride. Now the two kinds are those who retrogress in mind and transformationally created persons, because both benefit. Saying 'two kinds of persons' refers to the persons of the two vehicles. It is also said: the two kinds of persons are, first, those who have fear and trepidation, and second, those without benefit; that is, having delusion and lacking understanding are called the two persons. Question: What passage of the sūtra text does this resolute mind explain? Answer: It explains the Buddha's intention in stopping the entreaty, but does not yet explain the text of stopping the entreaty. The reason he stopped the entreaty was that he wished resolutely to benefit sentient beings.
