問：前二可利益大眾，後一云何亦利益耶？答：增上慢人若在法席，即為大眾作障道因緣，不得授記，故須令其離席。又眾見罪人離席，彌生重法尊人之心，又深自發心得聞勝法，故亦是利益大眾。此三義即是釋三止文。第一是請前止，餘二是請後止。

Question: The first two may benefit the great assembly, but how does the last one also benefit them? Answer: If persons of excessive pride remained in the Dharma assembly, they would create causes and conditions obstructing the path for the great assembly so that they could not receive prediction; therefore, it was necessary to cause them to leave the assembly. Furthermore, when the assembly sees those with transgressions leave the assembly, they give rise all the more to the mind that values the Dharma and reveres the person, and they deeply generate the resolve themselves to hear the superior Dharma. Therefore, this also benefits the great assembly. These three meanings explain the passages on the three stops. The first is the stop before the entreaty; the remaining two are the stops after the entreaties.
