「與受記者」，釋第四章。此釋正說，從初竟五濁之前經文也。問：今正說法華經，云何名與受記？答：所以說法華者，意欲令其受記作佛。此釋佛意門也。就文為二：初牒名、第二解釋。

"Bestowing prediction" explains the fourth chapter. This explains the main discourse, from the beginning up to the passage before the five turbidities in the sūtra text. Question: Now that the Lotus Sūtra is being expounded directly, why is it called bestowing prediction? Answer: The reason why he preached the Lotus [Sūtra] was that he intended to cause them to receive prediction of becoming buddhas. This belongs to the section explaining the Buddha's intention. In the text there are two parts: first, citing the title; second, explaining it.
