除佛以外，人天二乘等智慧所知皆是有上，獨佛知見名為無上。今欲開無上知見，故言開佛知見。

Except for the Buddha, what is known by the wisdom of humans, devas, the two vehicles, and so forth is all surpassed; only the Buddha's knowledge and vision is called unsurpassable. Now, desiring to open up the unsurpassable knowledge and vision, [the sūtra] therefore speaks of "opening the Buddha's knowledge and vision."
