"Concluding the simile" directly concludes the meaning of the single flavor simile. Because all sentient beings share the identical, equal dharmakāya, it is called a "single flavor." Question: Where is the complete five-flavor simile correlated? Answer: The Nirvāṇa Sūtra says, "Just as from a cow comes milk, from milk comes curds, from curds comes fresh butter, from fresh butter comes clarified butter, and from clarified butter comes ghee. In the same way, from the Buddha come the twelve divisions of scriptures, from the twelve divisions of scriptures come the sūtras, from the sūtras come the vaipulya sūtras, from the vaipulya sūtras comes the prajñāpāramitā, and from the prajñāpāramitā comes the Mahāparinirvāṇa." The Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra uses ghee to illustrate nirvāṇa; now this sūtra uses ghee to illustrate the equality of the dharmakāya. Therefore, we know that the meanings clarified in the Lotus and Nirvāṇa [sūtras] are not two.
