值佛聞法即不起謗，若知謗佛即不為說。除佛滅後現前無佛，聞此法自不起信耳，非佛過也。問：佛滅後聞法起謗，此是何人？答：若佛滅度後實是阿羅漢，聞說一乘亦不起謗；若起謗者必是凡夫。

If one encounters the Buddha and hears the Dharma, one will not give rise to slander; if the Buddha knows that someone will slander him, he will not preach to them. It is only after the Buddha's extinction, when there is no Buddha present, that hearing this Dharma one naturally does not give rise to faith; this is not the Buddha's fault. Question: When one hears the Dharma after the Buddha's extinction and gives rise to slander, what kind of person is this? Answer: If, after the Buddha's extinction, one is truly an arhat, hearing the ekayāna taught, one will also not give rise to slander; if one gives rise to slander, one must be an ordinary person.
