Regarding "because of the meaning of the knowledge of all modes and all-knowledge": "all modes" refers to the knowledge of all modes (sarvākārajñatā). The Dazhidulun states: "The gate of wisdom is called 'modes'." "Modes" (種) means distinct categories (種別); because the gates of wisdom have distinct categories and are not identical, they are called "modes". Regarding "because of the meaning of the knowledge of all-knowledge (sarvajña-jñāna)": one explanation says that because it is the knowledge of the omniscient person (sarvajña), the character "knowledge" (智) is doubled. Another explanation says: because it is that which is known by all-knowledge, it is called "knowledge-knowledge" (智智).
