身子、迦葉等四大聲聞，此之五人是眾所知識，成佛名號不同，故前後與記，稱為別記也。
Śāriputra, Kāśyapa, and the other four great śrāvakas—these five persons are known to the multitude, and their names upon attaining buddhahood are different; hence vyākaraṇa was conferred upon them successively, which is called individual vyākaraṇa.
