"Not identical with the realm of sentient beings" explains "there is no being in the world" above. "Not separate from the realm of sentient beings" explains "nor is there passing into extinction" above. One may also say: because the tathāgatagarbha is not in the world, it is not identical with the realm of sentient beings; because the tathāgatagarbha has no extinction, it is not separate from the realm of sentient beings. Thus, sūtra and treatise can mutually explain each other in reverse. Furthermore, in terms of principle, there was never duality, so it is not separate from the realm of sentient beings; in terms of conditions, there was never oneness, so it is not identical with the realm of sentient beings. It is also that the six destinies are constantly the dharmakāya, so they are not separate from the dharmakāya; yet through conditions they form the six destinies, so they are not identical.
