問：藥王可是苦行，妙音云何亦是苦行？答：妙音分形四生六道，為物弘經及救濟諸難，亦是苦行。

Question: Bhaiṣajyarāja can indeed be [said to practice] austerities; how can Gadgadasvara also be [said to practice] austerities? Answer: Gadgadasvara divides his form among the four modes of birth and the six destinies, propagating the sūtra for sentient beings and rescuing them from various perils; this is also [practicing] austerities.
