First, they should (ying) receive offerings of food, drink, bedding, reverence, and so forth. Second, they should lead the great assembly to teach and transform all beings. Third, they should enter hamlets, towns, and cities. Fourth, they should subdue various non-Buddhists and others. Fifth, they should swiftly contemplate all dharmas with wisdom. Sixth, they should preach the Dharma neither too quickly nor too slowly, in accord with the Dharma, without weariness. Seventh, they should sit quietly in unoccupied, solitary places, not accumulating or hoarding food, clothing, or any necessities of life, having few desires and being content. Eighth, they should practice wholesome deeds exclusively, without attachment to the dhyānas. Ninth, they should practice the noble conduct of emptiness. Tenth, they should practice the noble conduct of signlessness. Eleventh, they should practice the noble conduct of wishlessness. Twelfth, they should subdue the world and purify the mind through meditation. Thirteenth, they should generate the superior virtues of various supernormal powers.
