正直曰方，外己曰便。依正直故生憐愍一切眾生心，依外己故遠離供養恭敬自身心。

Uprightness is called fang; placing oneself outside is called bian. By relying on uprightness, he gives rise to a mind of pity for all sentient beings; by relying on placing oneself outside, he stays far away from a mind that seeks offerings and reverence for his own person.
