釋曇鸞法師者，并州汾水縣人也。魏末高齊之初猶在，神智高遠三國知聞，洞曉眾經獨出人外，梁國天子蕭王恒向北禮菩薩。註解《往生論》裁成兩卷。事出釋迦才三卷《淨土論》也。

The Dharma Master Shi Tanluan was a native of Fenshui County in Bingzhou. He was still living at the end of the Wei and the beginning of the Northern Qi. His spiritual wisdom was lofty and profound, renowned across the Three Kingdoms; thoroughly understanding the various sūtras, he stood out uniquely beyond ordinary men. The Son of Heaven of the Liang dynasty, King Xiao, constantly faced north to bow in homage to the Bodhisattva. He commented upon and explained the Treatise on Rebirth, arranging it into two fascicles. This account comes from Shi Jiacai's three-fascicle Treatise on the Pure Land.
