Question: According to the Daśabhūmika Sūtra, as a bodhisattva advances through the stages, he gradually acquires immeasurable merits, and only after passing through many kalpas does he attain this. How is it that upon seeing Amitābha Buddha, they are ultimately equal in body and equal in dharma with all the bodhisattvas of the higher stages? Answer: Saying 'ultimately' does not mean that they are immediately equal. Because they will ultimately not fail to attain this equality, it is said to be equal.
