Bodhisattvas of the eighth stage and above are constantly in samādhi. Through the power of samādhi, while their bodies do not move from their original place, they can go everywhere across the ten directions to make offerings to the Buddhas and educate and transform sentient beings. 'The immaculate wheel' refers to the merits of the Buddha-stage. The merits of the Buddha-stage are free from the defilements of latent afflictions. The Buddha constantly turns this wheel of Dharma for all bodhisattvas, and the great bodhisattvas can also use this wheel of Dharma to guide all [sentient beings] without a moment's rest; hence it is said that it 'constantly turns.' The Dharma body is like the sun, and the light of its adaptive transformation body shines universally throughout all worlds. Saying 'the sun' is not yet sufficient to make clear that it does not move; therefore it is further said that it 'dwells and sustains like Mount Sumeru.' As for 'the lotus in the mire,' the sūtra states: 'Lotuses do not grow on high plateaus and dry land; it is in low, wet mire that lotuses grow.' This is an analogy for ordinary beings who, while within the mire of afflictions, are guided by the bodhisattva and can give birth to the flower of the Buddha's correct awakening. Truly, they carry on and exalt the Three Jewels, causing them never to end.
