How is this inconceivable? The Correctly Enlightened One Amitābha is inconceivable; that Pure Land of Peace and Bliss is sustained by the skillful power of the Correctly Enlightened One Amitābha—how could it be conceivable? 'To abide' (zhu) means not changing and not perishing; 'to sustain' (chi) means not scattering and not being lost. It is like an incorruptible medicine coating a seed: in water it does not rot, in fire it does not burn, and upon meeting causes and conditions, it sprouts. Why? Because of the power of the incorruptible medicine. If a person is once reborn in the Pure Land of Peace and Bliss, and later wishes to be reborn in the three realms to teach and transform sentient beings, they may relinquish their life in the Pure Land and be reborn according to their wish. Although born into the mixed birth of the three realms, amidst water and fire, the seed of unsurpassable bodhi will ultimately never rot. Why? Because it has undergone the skillful sustaining power of Amitābha, the Correctly Enlightened One.
