〔補註〕制有二：事制則謹守根門，不令奔境；理制則根境本寂，念自不生。

[Supplementary note:] Restraint has two aspects: restraint in practice means prudently guarding the sense doors so they do not rush toward sense objects; restraint in principle means that sense faculties and sense objects are originally tranquil, so thoughts do not arise of themselves.
