姚秦即後秦，姓姚名興。具云鳩摩羅什婆，此云童壽，以童子之年有壽者之智耳。其翻宣經論，宏功茂德，傳文敘之詳矣。譯者，《周禮．秋官司寇》云「北方掌語之官曰譯。」

Yao Qin is the Later Qin; the ruling surname was Yao, and his personal name was Xing. Fully stated as Kumārajīvabhā [Kumārajīva], here translated as "youthful longevity", because at the age of a youth he possessed the wisdom of an elder. His translation and propagation of sūtras and treatises, and his magnificent achievements and flourishing virtue, are detailed in his biographical accounts. Regarding "translator" (yi), the Autumn Offices, Minister of Crime of the Rites of Zhou says: "The official who managed language in the north was called the yi."
