〔補註〕云何戒行不及能忍？良由戒高者輕世、苦己者瞋他，忍則冤親等觀、苦樂無寄，故施戒生天、忍辱入道，何可及也。

[Supplementary Note] Why can the practice of precepts not match the ability to bear? Truly because those with high discipline look down upon the world, and those who torment themselves become angry at others; whereas forbearance regards enemy and friend as equal and relies on neither suffering nor pleasure. Therefore, giving and discipline lead to rebirth in heaven, while forbearance leads into the Dao—how could they match it?
