〔補註〕知識護助有二：一者知識是師、護助是友。不忘念者，方能承受師友教誨；忘念之人，明師良友日臨之，無益也。二者知識是一心、護助是三慧。不忘念則一心了然、三慧具足。

[Supplementary note] Spiritual friends and protective assistance are twofold: First, the spiritual friend is the teacher, and the protective assistance is the companion. Only one who has unforgetting mindfulness can receive the instructions of teacher and friend; for a person of forgotten mindfulness, even if enlightened teachers and good companions attend to them daily, it is of no benefit. Second, the spiritual friend is the one mind, and the protective assistance is the three wisdoms. With unforgetting mindfulness, the one mind is clear and the three wisdoms are complete.
