二方便遠離清淨戒（二）：初不同凡夫增過護、二不同外道損智護。論云「護根本淨戒」。此護初文依根本義。有其二種：一者不同凡夫增過護、二者不同外道損智護。遮戒雖多，今約喜犯曲嘉誡勉，能止此惡，則名清淨。

Second, the pure precepts of expedient seclusion (two parts): first, protection [through] not increasing faults like ordinary persons; second, protection [through] not diminishing wisdom like non-Buddhists. The treatise states: "Protecting the fundamental pure precepts." This protection in the opening text relies on the fundamental meaning. Although prohibitive precepts are many, here he adroitly exhorts based on what is prone to violation; being able to cease these evils is called purity.
