〔補註〕序前應云「釋此經分二，初總序經義、二別釋經文。」方與次科相應。舊本無，今為補之。言節要者，此經有論有疏，源師蓋撮略論疏而成此註也。

[Supplementary note] Before the preface, it ought to say: "Explicating this sūtra is divided into two parts: first, a general overview of the meaning of the sūtra; second, an individual exposition of the sūtra text." Only then does it correspond to the next rubric. The old edition lacked this; I have now supplemented it. Regarding the term "essentials" (jieyao): this sūtra has both a treatise and a commentary, and Master Jingyuan merely extracted and abridged the treatise and commentary to compose this commentary.
