「如何一事具有顯形」者，外難。外難不解，意謂一色具有顯、形二體，便一極微有二分過。故為徵問：如何一極微事，具有顯、形二體說為俱句。此難前師，或難後師，或通難二。

On "How can a single entity possess both colour and shape?": an external objection. The external objector fails to understand, thinking that a single visual form possesses two distinct entities of colour and shape, which would incur the fault of a single paramāṇu having two parts. Therefore, he questions: How can a single paramāṇu entity possess the two entities of colour and shape and be described as the alternative of both? This challenges the former master, or challenges the latter master, or challenges both in common.
