Regarding the passage from "Deliberation means discernment" up to "therefore it is so stated": this explains the name "cessation through deliberation". That is, anāsrava wisdom being different from sāsrava wisdom is called a distinction in wisdom, or undefiled being different from defiled is called a distinction in wisdom, because this distinct wisdom separately discerns the four noble truths. The essence of cessation exists prior, but is simply not possessed; because it is attained through the power of deliberation, it is called cessation through deliberation—omitting "power" and "attained", it is called simply cessation through deliberation. Because it is the cessation of deliberation, it is called cessation through deliberation; this is a genitive tatpuruṣa compound (ṣaṣṭhī-tatpuruṣa). Just as a cart drawn by an ox is called an "ox-cart", omitting the word "drawn" in the middle, it is therefore spoken of in this way. Cessation through deliberation is also like this.
