Regarding "Furthermore, a sūtra says … arises together with feeling and the like": the master of the Vibhāṣā cites a sūtra as an objection, showing that it refers to simultaneous arising in the same moment. Furthermore, the previous sūtra says that the combination of the three—sense faculty, object, and consciousness—is called contact. How could there be consciousness that is not the contact of the three combined? Or could there be the combination of sense faculty, object, and consciousness and not be called contact? Therefore, it must definitively be admitted that all consciousnesses are accompanied by contact, and all contacts without exception arise together with feeling and the like.
