「說欲界繫已至謂法近行」者，此明色界。初、二靜慮唯有十二俱緣欲界；八緣色界，除緣香、味二喜二捨；二緣無色。三、四靜慮有六捨俱緣欲界，四緣色界，一緣無色。

"Having spoken of those bound to the desire realm... 'namely, the exploration of dharmas'": this explains the form realm. In the first and second dhyānas there are only twelve, all of which take the desire realm as object; eight take the form realm as object, excluding the two of gladness and two of equanimity that take smell and taste as objects; two take the formless realm as object. In the third and fourth dhyānas, there are six equanimities that all take the desire realm as object, four that take the form realm as object, and one that takes the formless realm as object.
