「且五觸生至如何和合」者，此下決擇。問：五識相應觸生，可三和合，許根、境、識同現在故。意識相應觸生，根、境、識三種容各在一世，如何和合？以法亦容在過、現故，是故言或。

[On the Kośa's statement:] "Now, when the five contacts arise... how is there harmony?": below this is the investigation. Question: When contact associated with the five consciousnesses arises, there can be a triadic harmony, because faculty, object, and consciousness are accepted to be simultaneously present. But when contact associated with the mental consciousness arises, faculty, object, and consciousness may each be in a different temporal period; how can they harmonize? Because phenomena (dharmas) can also be in the past or present, it says "or".
