"In the middle of the mountain summit... all delightful things": this explains the Sudarśana Palace and mansion. Those who see it call it excellent (su-), so it is named Sudarśana ("Well-Seen"). Yakṣas are a kind of deity that encompasses devas, ghosts, and animals; it has the meaning of "fierce and violent." Alternatively, it means "brave and robust," or "blessed and fortunate." "A hundred and one" means a hundred and one items, just as one speaks of food of a hundred tastes. Tūla cotton: tūla is the name of a tree, and cotton comes out of the fruit of this tree; it is named tūla cotton, just like one speaks of willow catkins. The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "The city has a thousand gates, adorned and magnificent, and there are five hundred blue-robed yakṣas, brave, dignified, and adorned, each equipped with armor and weapons, guarding the city gates."
