「若爾現見至為何所作」者，正量部問。若爾，現見煎水減盡，以此明知火為滅因。若不爾者，火合於中為何所作？
[On the text,] "If so, then it is observed … what function does it perform?": The Sammatīya asks: If so, then boiling water is observed to diminish until exhausted; through this we clearly know that fire is the cause of destruction. If that were not so, what function would contact with fire perform therein?
