「救濟為義至一切苦故」者，答。救拔濟度，是歸依義。由彼三寶為所歸依，能永解脫諸有情類一切苦故。又《正理》三十八云「他身聖法及善無為，如何能為自身救濟？以歸依彼能息無邊生死苦輪大怖畏故。」
Regarding the answer, "It has the meaning of rescue [...] because [it frees from] all suffering": Rescuing and delivering is the meaning of taking refuge. Because those Three Jewels serve as the refuge, they can eternally liberate all kinds of sentient beings from all suffering. Furthermore, the *Nyāyānusāra*, fascicle 38, says: "How can the noble dharmas and wholesome unconditioned [dharmas] in another's continuity serve as a rescue for oneself? Because taking refuge in them can quell the great terror of the boundless wheel of suffering in saṃsāra."
