今年飢饉，古來未有（云云）餓死之倫，道路難去，可悲哉！末世為之如何？予獨甞法味之間續惠命而法身肥了，可咲可咲。

In this year there was a famine unprecedented since ancient times (it is said). The ranks of those who starved to death made the roads hard to travel; how lamentable! What can be done in the final age? While I alone have tasted the flavor of the Dharma, prolonging the life of wisdom and fattening the Dharma-body—how laughable, how laughable!
