16.18

「論曰至唯盡純黑」者，釋初頌。法智家忍從果為名，名法智忍。不善別斷，故見道四、修道八，十二能斷。

Regarding "The treatise says: ... only brings an end to the purely dark": This explains the first verse. The kṣāntis associated with the dharma-jñānas take their name from their result, and are called dharma-jñāna-kṣāntis. The unwholesome is severed separately; thus, the four of the path of seeing and the eight of the path of cultivation—twelve in all—can sever it.
