"The treatise states: [...] there is a difference in the fruit conferred": explaining the first line. Because the donor accomplishes the distinct virtues of the seven noble riches—faith, morality, learning, and so on—it is called the difference in the donor. Because of the difference in the donor, the cause of giving becomes differentiated. Because of the differentiation in the cause of giving, the cause of giving has a difference in the fruit it confers. The word "etc." here includes wisdom, relinquishment, shame, and remorse. As for the seven noble riches: 1. faith, meaning deep faith; 2. morality, meaning pure morality; 3. learning, meaning much learning; 4. wisdom, meaning prajñā; 5. relinquishment, meaning giving away; 6. shame (hrī); 7. remorse (apatrāpya). Shame and remorse have already been explained previously. Thus the Saṅgītiparyāya, fascicle 16, states: "The seven riches are: 1. the rich of faith, 2. the rich of morality, 3. the rich of shame, 4. the rich of remorse, 5. the rich of learning, 6. the rich of relinquishment, 7. the rich of wisdom." This is extensively as explained there. Furthermore, the lower fascicle of the Yingluo jing says: "The seven riches are faith, giving, morality, learning, wisdom, shame, and remorse." "Giving" and "relinquishment" are different words with the same meaning. Although the treatises have different orders, the seven names are all equivalent.
