18.60

「據五無間至如次說重」者，答。諸法門中各一為重。若據五無間業中說破僧重，若約三罰業中說意罰罪大，就五僻見中說邪見重。或依大果義說破僧罪重，於無間獄一劫受故。依害多有情義說意業罪重，如仙意憤害多有情故。依斷善根義說邪見罪重。故言如次說重。

Regarding the passage from "In terms of the five immediate [retribution sins]" up to "are declared grave in that order": this is the reply. Within each of the doctrinal categories, one is the gravest. In terms of the five immediate [retribution] karmas, schism of the Saṃgha is declared to be grave; in terms of the three penal karmas, mental penalty is declared to be the greatest offense; and in terms of the five perverted views, false view is declared to be grave. Alternatively, in terms of having great fruit, schism of the Saṃgha is declared to be the gravest offense, because it is experienced for an eon in the Avīci Hell. In terms of harming many sentient beings, mental karma is declared to be the gravest offense, just as the wrath in the minds of the ṛṣis harmed many sentient beings. In terms of severing the roots of wholesome [qualities], false view is declared to be the gravest offense. Therefore it is said that they are declared grave in that order.
