"Or due to fear [...] this means is called giving": explaining the second line. Or among the eight kinds of giving, it refers to giving out of fear and giving out of seeking. Giving out of seeking is giving to seek reward, or giving to seek rebirth in heaven. Alternatively, "seeking" refers to seeking rebirth in heaven, and "demanding" refers to seeking a reward; because of craving for these, it is called craving. "Etc." includes the others not yet mentioned. Excluding only the eighth, it takes the previous seven gifts. In these previous seven gifts, the act of renouncing material goods is also accomplished, but they are not what is intended here. In order to exclude those seven gifts, the word "worship" (pūjā) is spoken: that is, when one renounces something out of veneration and worship toward another, or to benefit the impoverished, this means of renouncing is called giving. This corresponds to the eighth gift among those eight kinds of giving.
