「依《品類足》至勝境別故」者，復依《品類》釋慢類者，且我勝慢類從三慢出。若觀劣境謂己勝，即是慢攝。若觀等境謂己勝，即是過慢。若觀勝境謂己勝，即是慢過慢。餘八慢類，如理應說。

"According to the Prakaraṇapāda [...] because the superior objects differ"—further explaining the classes of conceit according to the Prakaraṇapāda: taking first the class of conceit 'I am superior,' it derives from three conceits. If one views an inferior object and thinks oneself superior, it is subsumed under conceit (māna). If one views an equal object and thinks oneself superior, it is arrogance (atimāna). If one views a superior object and thinks oneself superior, it is overweening arrogance (mānātimāna). The remaining eight classes of conceit should be explained accordingly.
