"How is it that the eye and the like ... are said to possess obstruction?" asks about the meaning of obstruction. How is it that when the eye and the like operate upon their own cognitive fields, they are said to possess obstruction? This asks about cognitive-field resistance. How is it that when eye-consciousness and the like operate upon their own objective supports, they are said to possess obstruction? This asks about objective-support resistance. Here, the word "own" means: the five sense-faculties and five consciousnesses each apprehend their own fields and cannot apprehend others, which is named "own," not that they cannot be grasped as objects by others. The manas and mental consciousness apprehend the dharma-field and are therefore named "own," not that they cannot apprehend others. Another explanation: apprehending the thirteen realms is named "own," because they are not apprehended by the five sense-faculties and five consciousnesses. Another explanation: among the eighteen realms, whatever is apprehended is immediately named "own".
