"Namely the view of selfhood and so forth... differing in clarity and obscurity": the answer. Mundane views refers to the soiled and unsoiled; or soiled and unsoiled are called mundane, while those of the learner (śaikṣa) and non-learner (aśaikṣa) are called the [other] views. A night with clouds is an analogy for the soiled: the five views are sāsrava, hence like night; they are defilements, hence like clouds. A night without clouds is an analogy for the unsoiled: right view is sāsrava, hence like night; it is not a defilement, hence like being without clouds. A daytime with clouds is an analogy for the learner: right view is anāsrava, hence like day; there are defilements, hence like clouds. A daytime without clouds is an analogy for the non-learner: right view is anāsrava, hence like day; there are no defilements, hence like being without clouds. The rest of the text is understandable.
