Regarding the passage from "When born in the first dhyāna..." up to "should be considered according to the principle": This explains the differences of identity and difference among the body, the eye, the form, and the consciousness across the various stages, with reference to this body being born in the first dhyāna. As for seeing form of one's own stage, or lower, or higher form with the eye of the third or fourth dhyāna stages: one's own, lower, and higher are spoken of by matching the form against the body. That is, when the body is born in the first dhyāna, seeing form of the first dhyāna with the eye of the third or fourth dhyāna is called 'one's own'; seeing form of the desire realm is called 'lower'; seeing form of the second dhyāna and above is called 'higher.' If the form is matched against the eye, there are only 'one's own' and 'lower'; one cannot say 'higher,' because an eye of a lower stage cannot see form of a higher stage.
