「由此獨為至清淨道故」者，答。在家樂著生死，故願生天。出家欣樂涅槃，故求清淨計捨可愛境，謂別解脫戒等能捨可愛諸境，計此為道。

Regarding "Because this alone serves as [...] the path of purification": Answer: Householders delight in and cling to saṃsāra, and thus aspire to be born in heaven. Renunciants rejoice in and aspire to nirvāṇa, and thus seek purification; they imagine renouncing agreeable objects—meaning that the prātimokṣa vows and the like are able to renounce all agreeable objects—and imagine this to be the path.
