「何故一一斷至故立九遍知」者，此即第三建立遍知緣問。何故見、修八十九品，一一斷位不別建立遍知，唯就如前九位建立？上三句列四緣，下句總結。

[On the passage:] "Why, with the abandonment of each and every... therefore nine universal knowledges are established?": This is the third [section], asking about the conditions for establishing universal knowledge. Why, at each stage of abandonment among the eighty-nine classes of seeing and cultivation, is universal knowledge not individually established, but established only with respect to the nine stages as aforementioned? The upper three lines list the four conditions, and the lower line summarizes.
