As for "Furthermore, what they say... should be known to be likewise": this is the third refutation, concerning the shifting of suffering producing pleasure. Furthermore, regarding their claim that an awareness of pleasure only arises upon the shifting of suffering, like shifting a load between shoulders: when this bodily state first shifts the load to the shoulder, it is truly able to produce pleasure, and up until the time before this bodily state ceases, pleasure will certainly arise; once it ceases, it is not so. If it were otherwise, after this initial stage pleasure should increasingly grow, because suffering gradually diminishes. However, when it has been shifted for a long time, although suffering gradually diminishes, pleasure does not arise; therefore it is known that pleasant feeling is not low suffering. Shifting the body's four postures in this way, where pleasure arises and weariness is dispelled at the initial stage of shifting, should be known to be likewise.
