「此契經意至中有應無」者，說一切有部答。此契經意約一趣說，作如是言不受第八。若如言執不受第八，中有應無。

Regarding the passage [beginning with] "The intent of this sūtra [...] intermediate existence would be non-existent": This is the reply of the Sarvāstivāda. The intent of this sūtra is stated with respect to a single realm of rebirth, making the statement that one does not undergo an eighth. If one adheres to the literal words that one does not undergo an eighth, intermediate existence would not exist.
