「頌曰至故成四句」者，但緣苦、集皆名為厭，緣厭境故。但緣四諦能斷惑者皆名為離，能離染故。寬狹不同，便成四句。

"The verse states: ... thus four alternatives are formed," whatever takes duḥkha-satya and samudaya-satya as its object is termed revulsion (nirvid), because it takes repulsive objects as its domain. Whatever takes the four noble truths as its object and can sever defilements is termed detachment (virāga), because it can remove defilement. Due to differences in breadth and narrowness, four alternatives are formed.
