"As for the differences in bodily support […] extends to relying on bodies of the three realms": This explains the subsequent verse. The Nyāyānusāra states: "That is to say, knowledge of another's mind can manifest relying on both the desire and form realms. It does not rely on the formless realm, because it does not exist there. The reason one does not give rise to the knowledge of another's mind belonging to a lower stage is that this knowledge has matter as a concomitant, and there is no possibility for that to arise there. Dharma-knowledge only arises relying on bodies of the desire realm and does not rely on the higher realms, because it cognizes the domain of the four truths of the desire realm; one who is born into the higher two realms does not give rise to dharma-knowledge cognizing the four truths of the desire realm." Furthermore, the Mahāvibhāṣā, fascicle 28, states: "That is to say, one born into the higher two realms definitely does not give rise to dharma-knowledge, because having revulsion toward the lower truths of suffering and origin, they do not wish to contemplate them again. Since they do not contemplate the lower suffering and origin, they also do not contemplate the lower cessation and path, because knowledge of cessation and the path takes knowledge of suffering and origin as its forerunner (thus far the treatise text)." Question: If they do not wish to contemplate it, how is it that those born in the form realm who possess the divine eye and ear also cognize desire-realm phenomena? Explanation: Empirical contemplation arises easily, so it can cognize the desire realm; doctrinal contemplation arises with difficulty, so it does not cognize the desire realm. Question: Can a body born in the form realm give rise to an anāsrava knowledge of another's mind cognizing a desire-realm mind? Explanation: Since it is said that dharma-knowledge does not cognize the path of the desire realm, it is evident that it does not cognize it. Furthermore, the Nyāyānusāra states: "Dharma-knowledge only arises relying on bodies of the desire realm, not the higher two realms, because all sāsrava minds that enter and emerge from this knowledge exist only in the desire realm. Moreover, the primary elements on which the matter concomitant with dharma-knowledge depends are bound exclusively to the desire realm. Furthermore, this can counter the defilements that cause breach of the precepts, and breach of the precepts occurs only in the desire realm, not in the higher realms." Except for the aforementioned knowledge of another's mind and dharma-knowledge, the arising of the remaining eight knowledges extends to relying on bodies in all three realms.
