27.41

「論曰至如共有悲」者，釋初句。如來大悲俗智為性。若異此俗智者，則不能緣一切有情，亦不能作三苦行相。如共有悲無嗔為性，唯緣欲界有情作苦苦行相。

On the passage "The commentary says: ... as does the shared compassion": This explains the first line. The Great Compassion of the Tathāgata has conventional knowledge (saṃvṛti-jñāna) as its essential nature. Were it other than this conventional knowledge, it could not take all sentient beings as its object, nor could it adopt the aspects of the three kinds of suffering. By contrast, the shared compassion has non-hatred (adveṣa) as its essential nature, takes only sentient beings of the desire realm as its object, and adopts only the aspect of the suffering of suffering (duḥkha-duḥkhatā).
