「如是別釋至初得云何」者，此下第二明三等至。就中，一明初得等至；二明等至相生；三明順、四分定；四明修超等至；五明等至依身；六明等至緣境；七明等至斷惑；八明近分差別；九明中定不同。此即第一明初得等至。結前問起。

"Having thus separately explained ... how are they first acquired?": Below, this is the second [section], explaining the three attainments (samāpatti). Within this: first, explaining the initial acquisition of attainments; second, explaining the reciprocal generation of attainments; third, explaining the fourfold concentrations in accordance with [specialization]; fourth, explaining the cultivation of leaping attainments; fifth, explaining the physical bases of attainments; sixth, explaining the cognitive objects of attainments; seventh, explaining attainments' abandonment of afflictions; eighth, explaining the distinctions of the preparatory stages; ninth, explaining the differences of intermediate dhyāna. This is the first, explaining the initial acquisition of attainments. It concludes the previous and introduces the inquiry.
